The Equator-network is an initiative where a group of dedicated people will gather all the available guidelines on a web-site. These are guidelines for the preparation of a wide variety of article types. At the EQUATOR website you can therefore find links to probably all available scientific guidelines. See more at www.equator-network.org.

In general, it is a good idea to use a reporting guideline when you write your paper. These guidelines are made by clever people and are published after thorough discussions and lots of work. You can therefore be sure that if you write your paper according to such a guideline then the quality of your article will increase. With that said it is obvious that it will also be easier for you to get the paper accepted in a good journal. My best advice for you is therefore to use such a reporting guideline whenever possible.
