ABOUT ME
Some years ago I was asked by the Capital Region of Copenhagen to participate in a video about my work and family life in Copenhagen. The result is shown on the video. I guess the purpose was to attract people to come and live here in the happiest country in the World. It was fun making it.
A few years ago Oprah was here to investigate why we are the happiest people in the world.
First and foremost I am a father and a husband. We have 4 children and 3 dogs. In my professional life I am professor and chief surgeon at Herlev Hospital, a large public hospital attached to the University of Copenhagen.
The most interesting and personally rewarding for me has probably been the job as assistant editor for 6 years and thereafter editor-in-chief for 7 years of the Journal of the Danish Medical Association (www.ugeskriftet.dk) and the Danish Medical Journal (www.danmedj.dk). These are signature journals of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (www.icmje.org), and by that I served of on the ICMJE for the 7 seven years as a chief editor. It was extremely interesting and taught me many things about dissemination of research findings with an international perspective. Things are not the same around the World and there are numerous challenges and important issues in the world of biomedical publishing.
